Grown in the Mekong Delta, OM 5451 is a high producing rice variety with a very short growth season (90 to 95 days). Combining the Jasmine 85 and OM 2490 types yielded OM 5451, a long grain aromatic rice with low fall, high yield (1–1.3 tons/ha), and the ability to be sown in three crops a year.
Characteristics of Rice 5451
Long, thin grains, little gray, less chalky and slightly milky in color, flexibility, soft, slightly aromatic rice are some of the qualities of rice. Once cooked, the rice retains its flexibility even after cooling down. This variety of rice is ideal for family meals and workplace meals since it is very simple to prepare and fully complies with export requirements.
Furthermore, 5451 rice is a great option for cafeterias in large-scale businesses, industrial caterers, etc. The length on average is roughly 6.2 mm. When cooked, the rice is flexible, not hardening even when cooled. This type of rice is very easy to cook and completely meets export standards, making it suitable for meals at offices and in families.
